The collapse of the "Sobyanin" MCC: The fall of Nizhny Novgorodskaya station exposed construction embezzlement

A major incident occurred at Sergey Sobyanin’s heavily promoted project – the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).

On January 30, the platform at Nizhny Novgorodskaya station collapsed due to the cold. Staff report that it will now remain closed for at least six months.

This comes as little surprise, given that the station was built between 2015 and 2020 amid repeated delays and rushed work to meet deadlines — and, of course, amid massive embezzlement.
